BLAUFRÄNKISCH RIED KREIDESTEIN 2021
BLAUFRÄNKISCH RIED KREIDESTEIN 2021
Wine with controlled designation of origin, Leithaberg DAC, dry, contains sulphites
For over a hundred years, pure chalk has been quarried on the southwestern slopes of the Leitha Mountains near Müllendorf. The dazzling white rock faces of the quarry are visible from afar and are always a fascinating sight. Only a narrow strip of forest separates the quarry from our vineyards in the Kreidestein vineyard. The barren soil and the cooling influence of the forest produce wines with a deep minerality and cool elegance.
"Deep carmine garnet, violet reflections, delicate ochre rim. Black forest berries, a hint of cherries and cranberries, underpinned by mandarin zest, fine minerality. Juicy, powerful, yet cool-toned, red berry core, mineral texture, subtle chocolate touch on the finish, lingers nicely, a complex food wine with potential." Tasted by Peter Moser, Falstaff

This Blaufränkisch pairs perfectly with hearty meat dishes or mushroom dishes with strong roasted aromas.
A particularly harmonious dish is a braised beef roast with thyme, root vegetables and red wine sauce – served with creamy polenta or crispy oven-baked bread.
Younger vintages should be opened or decanted a few hours before consumption.
We recommend a large red wine glass.
